This impressive home in Thu Duc District seems like the perfect retreat for lovers of peace and quiet in Saigon.
There’s something in Saigon for everyone to enjoy, from exotic cuisines to a lively nightlife and shopping bonanzas. Most of the time, it seems that Saigon life is best suited for social butterflies. Every corner of the city is bustling with activities, so being an introvert in Saigon might feel like getting the short end of the stick.
This charming abode named “The Hut,” however, was created with quietude and contemplation in mind to provide a much-needed reprieve from hectic city life. The project was undertaken by architecture firm 23o5 Studio, who sought to “bring balance back” to a developing area whose green spaces are vanishing at an alarming rate.
The overall feel of the design is undoubtedly contemporary with a healthy dose of influence from traditional Vietnamese homesteads as evidenced in The Hut’s use of dark wood and high ceilings.
The flow of the house is truncated by green spaces, fruit trees and sprawling vines, blurring the line between indoor and outdoor. The owners of The Hut also seem to be fans of gardening, with the housing plan specifically dedicated to space for growing Ninh Thuan grape vines, a starfruit tree, a guava tree and scores of Vietnamese herbs like lemongrass, mint and betel leaves.
