Deep inside the harmonious chaos that is Hanoi, a Vietnamese firm has given form to a coffee shop that's one part mini-arboretum and another urban jungle.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of Hanoi lies yet another architectural gem in the form of a coffee shop designed by Hoang Anh Duc of Tayone Design Studio. It aims to provide an "ideal space for meetings, gather-ups or even those who seeks for a quiet corner," as reported by ArchDaily.
Tucked inside Hanoi's Dong Da District and a mere stone's throw away from its namesake mounds, the building's concept is a playful fusion of modernist metropolis and tropical forest alongside Bauhaus elements.
Covering a generous 170 square meters, the shop consists of a single floor surrounded by a semi-transparent screen made of a wooden plank partition. The tranquil space features a kaleidoscope of terrarium vases, themselves filled with a variety of small plants in order to evoke a breathing tropical forest. Its dominant wooden ceiling is made with both interconnecting exposed beams and raw, unfinished wood.
Further establishing its ligneous identity, Tropical Forest Coffee's furniture is entirely carved out of natural wood. Visitors are immediately welcomed by a massive table with steps bearing similarities to the Bauhaus movement's nesting table. Further inside, an open-glass roof attracts an abundance of sunlight.
