In a new version of Vung Tau’s development plan, the city aims to improve its urban environment while maintaining nearby nature zones.
As Tuoi Tre reports, the Vietnamese government recently approved adjustments to the city of Vung Tau’s urban plan from now until 2035. While core items remain the same compared with a previous version crafted in 2005, there are a few noticeable changes, according to Chairman of Vung Tau People’s Committee Vu Hong Thuan.
Under the new plan, the city’s area increases by 1,000 hectares to 15,000 hectares, with seven quarters. Municipal authorities have also included projects that would improve Vung Tau’s urban environment. Specifically, from now until 2035, it will gradually relocate local seafood processing plants out of the Vung Tau city center to Go Gang Island, three kilometers away.
These facilities are currently scattered throughout residential areas in the city, emitting smell and water pollution that disrupts the livelihood of Vung Tau dwellers. After the move to the island, Vung Tau seeks to turn the facilities into high-tech plants reliant on less polluted methods.
Thuan shared that the city’s metropolitan area will have public parking lots catering to Vung Tau habitants and tourists while the Ben Dinh River, which is plagued by trash and sewage discharge, would be dredged and cleaned.
