A plastic bag’s life is five times that of an average human.
That’s the key information that this cheeky video, produced by DeClaw Team, wants its viewers to take away. DeClaw is a group of students in the media production and management program at Saigon’s Hoa Sen University. The short clip was created as part of the program’s end-of-semester screening.
Instead of going the solemn route of illustrating the harm caused by single-use plastic bags in harrowing ways, the members of DeClaw went the opposite direction with a light-hearted skit that subtly hints at the life cycle of a plastic bag.
The video starts with a heated confrontation between two teenage neighbors over one green plastic bag. But the conflict quickly elevates into a lifelong tit-for-tat exchange between them, each refusing to let the bag sit on their yard for more than a second before passing it right past the fence. Of course, the realities of a human life eventually put an end to this back-and-forth ping pong game, but it’s the plastic bag that has the last laugh — it’s still unscathed after decades.
Since its publication a week ago, the short, amusing public service announcement video has amassed more than 17,000 likes at the time of writing, and rightfully so. Have a look at the video below:
