[Video] This Animated MV Made by Local Artists Will Give You All the Feels

Animated with beautiful black and white watercolor illustrations, the music video for 00:00 not only provides a stimulating visual experience, but also shows off the creative skills of a group of young Vietnamese creatives - Dat Phan, Tuan Jerry, Nguyen Hao, Nguyen Kei and Pham Tran Phuong, singer/songwriter of 00:00.

Nguyen Hao based the animation on a story she once heard about a magical well. When items were dropped into the well, they would bounce back, a phenomenon that led a curious boy to jump in, only to see another version of himself ascend to the surface.

Dat Phan is the creator of the dreamy black and white illustrations. The emerging illustrator has contributed to several projects including drawing book covers for one of Vietnam’s biggest publishers, Nha Nam; an animated short, Coc Tia, that was featured in renowned Vietnamese director Victor Vu’s Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh; as well as his previous art book Hao Quang: The Art of Scandal. 

Hao and Dat were joined by director Nguyen Kei and animator/editor Tuan Jerry to produce 00:00, the first animated 4K film produced in Vietnam in just three weeks.

The eerie vocals and lyrics of the song are meant to recount the lonesomeness one may find in fast-paced city life.
