In an unexpected turn of events, a student from the Hanoi College of Technology and Trading had to take her six-month-old baby with her on examination day.
To her surprise, the professor proctoring the exam offered to lend a hand in taking care of the toddler while the student focused on the test, Tuoi Tre reports.
The test took two hours to finish, and the lucky student was quick to snap a picture of the professor and her baby right after it ended. The photo went viral with praises coming from Vietnam's earnest online citizens.
The identity of the professor was quick to surface too. His name is Nguyen Van Ket, and he teaches in the college's Economics department.
It turns out Ket has quite a reputation for being a supportive teacher. The student whose child he cradled for two hours reflects: "He really cares about his students. He will ask questions and be supportive if something comes up. For students who are often absent from school, he will try to reach out and encourage them to go to classes, try to create the best condition for them to go to school."
Ket himself was surprised at the public reaction towards the whole situation, stating what he did was just common sense: "My wife was aware of it that evening. We work at the same workplace so she understands. I wasn't embarrassed, it was a no-brainer because it's the right thing to do."
