[Photos] Inside District 1's Minimalist Hidden Oasis

Downtown Saigon is no place for peace and quiet. However, local architecture firm Kien Truc O has transformed a small, narrow house in District 1 into a miniature oasis.

According to Design Boom, the original structure had undergone several renovations and additions in its lifetime, however Kien Truc O chose to gut the building and start from scratch, leaving only an intricate truss roof system above the empty house.

Now complete, the front of the house is deceptively low-key, with nothing more than a wooden garage door facing the street. Inside, high ceilings accentuate the house's simple, geometric interior designs and bare concrete walls.

Further back, a small garden and pond provide a space for quiet reflection, while the private areas of the house are located away from the main road, minimizing the street noise.
