Well, Nguyen Ha Dong, the Vietnamese app developer who at one point was pulling in $55,000 per day, is officially back in the spotlight. After releasing a new version of ‘Flappy Bird’ earlier this month, the Vietnamese app superstar plans to release his second title, ‘Swing Copters’ this Thursday.
In the spirit of ‘Flappy’ Bird,’ the new game will feature the same pixilated graphics and a simple scoring system. According to Tuoi Tre, the gameplay is also similar:
“The gameplay of Swing Copters is simple – it resembles that of Flappy Bird. What a gamer has to do is just to make another character, a copter with big eyes and no tail, fly vertically toward infinity instead of horizontally, and try to avoid swinging hammer while flying upward.
Once hit, the blades of the copter will break and the main character will be on a free fall until it hits the ground, being turned upside down.”
Unlike the re-release of ‘Flappy Bird,’ which is only available on Amazon Fire TV, ‘Swing Copters' will be available on all iOS devices though it’s unclear if/when it will be available for Android devices.
There will be both a free version of the game and a ad-free iteration for VND20,000.
Perhaps the success of ‘Swing Copters’ will determine if Dong is a one-hit-wonder or a developer that can continue to deliver chart-topping apps.
