The market for smart devices in Vietnam has recently become much more competitive, as Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched an official distribution channel in the country.
According to Dan Tri, the company announced its plans on March 15. Xiaomi’s Vietnam operation will be shared with distributor Digiworld Corporation in both online and offline capacities.
A retail agent of the company shared with the news source that it would bring a wide range of products to compete directly with Samsung and Apple instead of just affordable smartphones as previously planned. In particular, the Chinese brand’s stores will carry flagship models such as the Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A and the Mi MIX, in addition to other products like Mi TVs, Mi WiFi routers, home appliances and accessories.
The Mi MIX will cost VND16.9 million (US$741) while the Redmi Note 4 and Remi 4A are sold at VND4.69 million (US$205) and VND2.69 million (US$118), respectively.
To prepare for the launch, Digiworld has established two maintenance centers in Saigon and one each in Hanoi and Da Nang.
